Who should attend?

  • Anyone wishing to progress to specialist courses in Business Analysis
  • Individuals seeking to intimately understand the process that links business and IT
  • Project Managers, Business or Systems Analysts, process improvement team members as well as quality assurance professionals and system developers
  • Those seeking a professional, industry-recognised qualification in Business Analysis
MODULE 1: Introduction and Fundamentals of Business Analysis
This module covers the origin of Business Analysis, scope and competencies. It also examines the differing roles and responsibilities of a Business Analyst through the entire project lifecycle.

At the end of this module, students will be able to:
  • Act as effective team members to investigate an organisation's business systems with a view to recommending improvements
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business strategy and strategic analysis techniques
  • Apply these techniques in analysing and modeling business systems
  • Understand how recommendations for business improvement may be identified
  • Assist in the production of a rigorous business case covering the development and implementation of business changes
MODULE 2: Requirements Engineering
Our Requirement Engineering Module provides prospective students with a good grounding in investigating the situation of a business, analysing the core stakeholders and managing different opinions. It also imparts essential advice on eliciting, documenting and managing business and system requirements.

At the end of this module, students should be able to:
  • Act as a liaison to enact organisational requirements and communicate between business owners and the technical team
  • Catalogue and differentiate functional and non-functional requirements and prioritise these according to their importance
  • Be familiar with a range of elicitation techniques and know how to apply them effectively
  • Produce a Business Requirement Document (BRD), Functional Requirement Document (FRD) and Systems Specifications
  • Link project objectives/requirements to the Business Case
MODULE 3: Process and System Modelling Methodology
Our Modelling Section provides students with a broad understanding of business process investigation as well as methods of representing different business and requirement processes. This module examines business process modelling, considering why and when it should be used. It also introduces the industry-standard process modelling technique, and process modelling as a requirements definition tool.

The module enables students to build entity relationship diagrams and define attributes, class diagrams, sequence diagrams and also to represent functional requirements in uses cases.

At the end of this module, students will be able to:
  • Identify the tasks and disciplines required for process modelling and development
  • Investigate a system and processes from end-to-end
  • Interpret functional requirements and represent requirements in different UML notations
  • Identify different architectures for the systems development solutions
  • Conduct a process system review
  • Conduct gap analysis using the ASIS and TO BE methodology
MODULE 4: Case Studies/Real Life Projects
The course will be delivered with an emphasis on real life case studies, analysing the business structure of these and identifying strengths and weaknesses. Drawing on the learning outcomes achieved by these practical case studies, students will subsequently undertake their own case study project. This exercise will be performed in teams and also individually. The case studies will:
  • Cover real life projects and scenarios across different industries
  • Provide practical examples that will enable students to grasp the application of business concepts
  • Compare business theory to the models used by well-known organisations
  • Impart a clearer understanding of business theory
  • Help candidates become better prepared for interviews and thus secure the job they have been looking for
  • Provide knowledge and tools that can be applied to students' future workplace and to team projects
* Course materials, refreshments and exam registration are all included in the course price package.
* Exams are taken at the end of the course or, should the candidate desire time for additional study, they can be taken at a later date.

was quite impressed with the Schwaterz instructors and how knowledgeable they were. The learning aids were exceptional and immensely helpful. The third day is the best, the case studies were administered by professional BA's that are there everyday doing what they teach. Nothing is better than experience.
